Corriere della Sera – La Lettura
Measuring creativity

The visualization shows 221 artworks from 1400 to today. The works were selected from the 1,710 pieces analyzed by Ahmed Elgammal and Babak Saleh, researcher from The Art and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Rutgers University. The computer scientists developed an algorithm to measure the originality and influence of artworks.
For every half-century the 20 most creatives works have been selected and grouped by countries of birth/adoption of the author. For each artwork are displayed: level of creativity, size, type of work, art movement, artist, country.
The 10 most creative artworks are highlighted and showed in the bottom part.
